2023 Ball Person Information
You can't get any closer to the action than this! Be on court with some of the world's best tennis players, but it's not an easy job.
If you're interested in helping the Winston-Salem Open with this vital role as we serve up the best of summer, you must:
- Be at least 12 years old by August 1, 2023
- Move quickly to retrieve balls when out of play
- Endure long periods of time on court
- Work well with others on a team
- Possess good citizenship
- Have excellent hand-eye coordination
- Understand the game of tennis (how to keep score, when to change ends)
- Be able to attend at least two training sessions
Interest Session
Who is required to attend a session?
- Those who have not been a ball person at a prior Winston-Salem Open.
- Any prior Winston-Salem Open ball persons who would like to attend the information session.
What will you learn at the interest session?
- The ins and outs of how to retrieve balls and reset your position as an official ball person.
- Whether you would enjoy the experience and/or if it is the right fit
- The requirements and expectations for this on-court role
