The 2024 Winston-Salem Open has nabbed more top players.
Francisco Cerundolo, currently ranked world No. 29 has received a wild card into the main draw singles event. The 25-year-old Argentinian has won a title in each of the last three seasons – two on clay and one on grass – so he is still looking for the hardcourt hardware.
Tournament Director Jeff Ryan is beaming.
“We’re thrilled Francisco and his team are coming to Winston-Salem. We think it speaks volumes about our facilities and our hospitality to have so many of the world’s best choose to play this event.”
Cerundolo is making his Winston-Salem debut and will likely be a seeded player.
Jamie Murray and John Peers are not new to the Wake Forest University Tennis Complex. The duo made a run to the finals in 2014, and Murray won the event in 2022 with then-partner Matthew Ebden. Peers is fresh off Olympic gold, taking home that top prize at the Paris games with fellow Australian Matthew Ebden. Murray and Peers have a combined 60 ATP Tour doubles titles.
“Jamie and John are some of the most talented doubles players out there. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the fans to enjoy this caliber of play,” Ryan adds.
The tournament has two more wild cards into the singles main draw, one remaining in the doubles field, and two into the qualifying singles.
