In a blockbuster Round of 32 matchup between two former Winston-Salem Open champions, 2023 titlist Sebastián Báez defeated 2016 champion Pablo Carreño Busta in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, advancing into the Round of 16.

This marks the third career meeting between the two players—Báez now holds one win over Carreño Busta, adjusting their head-to-head tally to 1 - 2. 

Pablo Carreño Busta arrived in Winston-Salem as one of four previous champions in the draw, riding the confidence of an opening-round 58 minute win over Yoshihito Nishioka.

 

Báez will now face Botic van de Zandschulp in the Round of 16 on Wednesday night.
