Wimbledon semifinalist Arthur Fery continued his Winston-Salem run with a thrilling 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over American Aleksandar Kovacevic. Fery rallied after dropping the opening set to reach the second ATP Tour semifinal of his young career. He will faceJames Duckworth for a spot in his first ATP Tour final.
In other quarterfinal action, Benjamin Bonzi upset last year’s finalist Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6, 6-4 to reach his sixth career ATP Tour semifinal. Bonzi will face No. 3 seed Ignacio Buse, who defeated Juan Manuel Cerundolo 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 in one of the best matches of the tournament so far.
The other half of the doubles draw also took the court yesterday to decide the remaining semifinal spots. No. 3 seeds Lucas Miedler and Marc Polmans edged Robin Haase and Constantin Frantzen in a match tiebreak, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. They’ll face Petr Nouza and Neil Oberleitner, who defeated Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury 6-2, 7-6.
