In Monday's Stadium Court opening match, Darwin Blanch secured his way into the second round after a victory over former top 15 player Borna Coric. This marks Blanch's first ATP Tour win. Blanch will face No. 8 seed Alexandre Muller in the next round.

The Winston-Salem Open marks Darwin Blanch’s ATP Tour main draw debut after successfully advancing through qualifying. The 17-year-old American had previously appeared in ATP events as a wildcard in Miami and Madrid, but this tournament is the first time he has earned his place outright, making his breakthrough into an ATP 250 main draw.

During his junior career, Blanch won the USTA Boys' 16s national championship in August 2022. In ITF junior Grand Slam play, he has reached the semifinals of both the 2023 French Open and Wimbledon boys' singles events.
