Stefanos Tsitsipas and Cruz Hewitt have received wild cards into next week’s Winston-Salem Open, the tournament announced Wednesday.
Tsitsipas, the former No. 3 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, will make his second appearance at the ATP 250 event, while 17-year-old Hewitt is set to make his tournament debut.
The Australian teenager, son of ATP No. 1 Club member Lleyton Hewitt, made headlines in Washington last month, when he qualified for his first ATP Tour main draw before earning his maiden tour-level victory against Marcos Giron.
After mimicking his father’s iconic celebration, Hewitt then played countryman and good friend Alex de Minaur in a full-circle second-round clash. Hewitt currently sits 19th in the PIF ATP Live Next Gen Race.
Tsitsipas, meanwhile, has been rediscovering his form this season following a challenging 12-month period. The Greek is back in the Top 50 after claiming his first title in 16 months last month in Gstaad.
Tsitsipas and Hewitt will be joined in Winston-Salem by a strong field that includes several other Top-50 players, including Luciano Darderi, Arthur Fery and Denis Shapovalov.
Main-draw action at the Winston-Salem Open is set to take place from 23-29 August in North Carolina.
